Rat & Survival 2018

Post by Big Chris on Tue May 08, 2018 10:50 am

I intend to go (on a survival bike this time, huzzah!)

It looks like Scott probably can't make it this year. I hope to see you all there.

I'd hate to be Captain Obvious, but why not route the breather pipe back into the engine (or the oil tank if you happen to have such a thing) - problem solved Cool

because then the crankcase pressure wouldnt vent and would then cause it to blow seals and gaskets

not a closed circuit obviously!

I'm imagining an arrangement of bits of hosepipe and empty beer cans that directs the oil back in the filler cap, whilst simultaneously venting to the atmosphere via an old gravity bong or something

Solved it. Intermittently jamming float needle spring. Thats what was causing the intermittent dumping of petrol and it being a bastard to get the float heights right. It was dumping petrol down the bore casuing watered down oil and lots of crankcase pressure as the petrol evaporated in the crankcase and dumped itself out of the breather.

Good to know you have insufficient compression to risk the combustion chambers filling with fuel and it hydraulic locking

there is a reason the Belgians have (arguably) better and (definitely) stronger beer, namely: drinking loads of strong beer is the only way to forget that they are living in Belgium and have to look at the bloody place all day every day!

I'll be there, hopefully on domestic waste, beer trailer and all...

Which is good because there is ZERO luggage space.

My plans to get to R&S are as follows:
Thursday: leave work early, stay with family just North of Leeds
Friday: Leave Leeds in morning, motorway all the way to Cirencester.

All being well I will arrive mid-late afternoon. Will try to avoid Friday night rush hour

Is there any specific part of the site we intend to camp at?

Packed and ready to go, I'm doing a half day at work today

[img] https://up.picr.de/32843765yh.jpg [/ img]

I decided at 9pm last night that I would use the screen I made after all. I cut it down to make it less uncontrollable. I have a 4 hour ride to Yorkshire today, that can be my test run. If its annoying me more than its useful I will abandon it at their house.

<img src=[/img]

How do I make the image show automatically without having to click the link? I have tried deleting the square brackets but that didn't work." />
