That DR BIG I was given has gone to a new home.

iFAIL (Ade) collected it from me today, it almost fitted in his van- nothing a few ratchet straps couldn't handle though. Shocked

Thanks to EsoX for brokering the deal and lessening the amount of projects I have hanging over me- cheers dude.

What he needed there was a motorcycle, motorcycle trailer... Idea

I`m sure he`ll do a good job on it (looking forward to having a rort), but i don`t think it`ll be ready for R`n`S...!!

I`ve currently got Dr Big down at my house for some attention to the wiring loom that had Ade a bit flummoxed - the loom was in a shite state being both hacked about and with corroded connections and high resistances in lots of places.
That`s all sorted now and it starts and runs reliably - i even took it around the block for a sneaky test ride (no brakes yet) and it feels alright - love the lazy, torquey thumpy power delivery and thuddy exhaust note. Smile

However, a potential costly problem has become apparent in that the engine makes a horrific CLACKING sound on cranking which has been diagnosed as a failing starter clutch which is a common problem on these bikes it seems.....and it`s a ~£300 fix. Shocked

There might be a bodgineering solution to this wallet-busting mechanical malady but that requires further investigation as yet.

Ade`s still got the bodywork etc in Kent so this was the test-ride set-up;

being an old single cylinder adventure bike thing, doesn't it have a kickstarter (or provision for fitment thereof)?

No.
There was a `special` kit available from Suzuki once upon a time apparently, but they`re rarer than rocking horse teeth.
