VJ!

I saw that you have sold the XJ, away it went in a pickup. Then you dropped hints about a Suzuki? (I think) which needed some parts. I saw nothing more on that, and now you mention an XS which consumes oil.

So, err, what's happening, do you have a bike?

ok since we started posting guesses....


Started out as a XS1100, probably a Midnight Special because of the Virago style wheel?
GSX1100-G engine, as that's the only one I can think of that is that shape and has shaft drive
Bandit 12 front end (probably the same one VJ had on all his other bikes)
something about the hydraulic clutch - probably bodged from Bandit bits?

Xs1100 sport frame and back wheel, gsx1100g engine with gsxr750k head and cams, bandit 12 front end that has been in the 6/12 and the xj9.petrol tank is xs650, tailpiece is unknown but suits it, headlights are projectors off a malaguti scooter with better bulbs fitted and the hydraulic clutch setup is zzr master, gsxr slave and a homemade pushrod to suit out of some 6mm stainless bar

How much travel does a GSXR-slave make, if I may ask? I shall do a hydraulic conversion on a mate's XV750 and I am wondering, whether the pump can actually fully disengage the clutch. (XVs are a bit finnicky about that)

aaaand now its fucked again, it spat a conrod through the cases and burst into flames on the dyno yesterday.



If i come to R+S it'l be in the pickup, in which case i'll bring my tools so i can fix other people shit for beer.

'Tis a shame about the engine sh!tting itself. Regardless of how you get there, it'd be good to see you. I doubt I'll make it that far South again this year.

Besides, if you're in the pickup you can bring firewood, take us for beer runs etc.

this is either a FAIL or a WIN, depending on what the dyno was reading when it burst into flames

Greg hooked me up with someone with an almost complete but in pieces entire gsx1100g so my garage is now full of oil, valve springs, cases and piston rings.

Ive got a lot on at the moment and a lot of work to do before the bike is rideable again so I'll prob be in the truck for r&s but at least it'll live again.

P.s. anyone want a gsx1100g with no engine?

after all this hassle and on the basis that I have a spare top end, gearbox and clutch, starter and alternator I've decided im going to buy a set of crankcases from ebay america and build a known good spare motor to live under the bench in the shed just incase.
