i just washed my bike....but on the plus side, the super industrial strength mag wheel cleaner i used has etched a new layer of white smeg into the cast mag wheels, so all good then

You're not alone... I'll have to wash the sidecar today or tomorrow to get the salt off. It has "patinated" quite nicely over the course of this Winter... Neutral
