I've been told the turnout might be quite good as Nik S is drumming up support for it on Fb but then you're prolly on Fb and know this already.

There wasn't a huge turnout but it was good, I mean crap- the weather was heinous and everyone was in a bad mood

It's a very different world over here. I've been surprised by a lot, least of all that there is a TON of English, as well as the fact that locals walk incredibly slowly. Also, it's still like a mini colonial London - red double deckers and lots of "look right" on the street, as well as M&S everywhere. And like zero motorcycles - very different from Bangkok, which was just full of mopeds everywhere.

shows how easy it is to fall for fake news and biased reporting

To be fair, there are protests and they are large. But a war zone? No. And they are extremely organized. They announce on twitter where they will be, and in the "underground" there are is a ton of excellent signage and announcements that talk about the scheduled protests.

Every street corner has "Free HK" graffiti.

It is super sad that HK is fighting for their freedom. But it's not the sensationalized death zone that it's made to look, at all.
