So I've been commuting on a 2019 cbf1000 for the last week due to circumstances involving the xjr and a moron pulling out on me.

It's the newest thing I've ever ridden - first thing I've ever ridden that's younger than Mrs Jim Mk2.

Review is as follows:

The good:
Great turning circle.

The bad:
Everything else.

Utterly dull styling. Screen which may as well not exist.

Headlights mediocre.

Motor which feels like a bandit 600 with 50k on the clock could out pull it. Is also totally without character. Anti wheelie. Sounds like a hair dryer.

Awful seating position and seat. Crap for pillion too. Made worse by some soreness from the above moron's actions.

Snatchy throttle at low rpm, which somehow becomes sleepy and lazy when asking it to chug a bit in higher gears.

Idiot lights with a blue high beam light angled perfectly to dazzle the rider and light up every visor scratch and smudge like a fucking Christmas tree. Massive rev counter in centre, as if pretending it's a race bike, and tiny mph display.

Front brake is binary - On 100% or Off. Rear is wooden and struggles to stop the bike alone from low speed. ABS goes all funny on the gravel at work.

Fuel economy shite - xjr1300 used less fuel on the 150mile motorway blast to see Deb at the weekends.

New bikes are shite confirmed.

'kin 'ell, sorry to hear about another off- you seem to get way more than your fair share.

Have you taped over the main beam dash light yet (leaving a tiny corner exposed)?

"Snatchy throttle at low rpm, which somehow becomes sleepy and lazy when asking it to chug a bit in higher gears."

Seems to be a problem right across the board with modern injection bike due to having to meet Euro 4 compliance. You can get a bunch of aftermarket workaround stuff to fix the earlier ones but appaently it can't yet be done with Euro 5 so you're stuck with it on those bikes.

Update: frame weld cracked at headstock. Definitely dead.

Main bean idiot light taped up confirmed.

Think I'll stick to late model carbed bikes. This was a 2000 and I really liked it. Refined but not sterilised.

Hoping insurance moves quickly and I can replace it with another xjr. Really really liked that bike.

Oooof total scrapper then. They gonna let you buy it back still? Or does it have to go to a breaker?

I've asked if we can come to a deal on me taking some parts off it (rear shocks were brand new hagons and want them for next one). Waiting to hear back.

Attached a pic of the frame damage above.

Was running smooth as hell, but nowhere to really store a bloody great lump like that. Flat is essentially a shoebox.

Looking st sorting out the bandit for mot at end of the month now. Reckon it'll scrape by.
